I'm 30 years old, born in the Netherlands and now living in Spain for 3 years. What started as a hobby - automating games as a teenager - has grown into my passion and career.
20 years ago I discovered programming. Completely self-taught, from Android apps to websites. Now specialized in websites for the hospitality industry for 10 years.
My story
I've always been a nerd. 20 years ago I started automating games - just for fun. That curiosity grew into an obsession: how do things work? How can I make this better?
From games I moved on to building Android apps. Then I discovered web design. And that's where it clicked. In 2015, now 10 years ago, I started making websites professionally. All self-taught, because that's how I work: diving deep until I understand it.
Over the years I've built dozens, maybe even hundreds of websites. First for an employer, where I learned the trade and made many clients happy. Later I took the step to work for myself. That freedom to work directly with clients and deliver exactly what they need? That's what makes it special.
My background? I was a light and sound technician. But my passion for programming won. Since then I've been working at least 60 hours a week on code, often 100 hours. Not because I have to, but because I love it.
In September 2021 I moved to Spain. That was exciting, but it works perfectly. I work for clients in both the Netherlands and Spain. Most of it is done online, but I'm regularly physically present in both countries. I've been working this way for 3 years now, and it's going great.
